Second Thanksgiving

So yesterday we had Thanksgiving/Jon's birthday. Everyone was there, both families. We had lots of good food and a good time! Mr. Baby is doing good, his orders have changed to he can get a bottle or nurse anytime he is awake. Doing a lot better with the nursing, we're getting there. Besides that he's doing fine, 5lbs 7oz. Just waiting to get the feeding down pat....
Robin and Laura came down to visit today, we went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch and they brought us some tastyy food. Soo good to see them, can't wait for them to meet Eli.

One of the nurses draws these for each holiday

The tiny mircales foundation gave the babies these bibs and a hat (he was too big for it)

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Happy Thanksgiving!! Our family is actually celebrating tomorrow so their are lots more pics to come then. But boy do we have a lot to be thankful for: Our little guy is doing so well, he has excellent care, our family and friends have been so generous and supportive, we both have jobs....I could sit here and list and list and list things and never express enough. We are so blessed.

While the nurse was giving Eli his blood transfusion she looked at me and said, "well here is another thing to be thankful for this thanksgiving, that someone gave blood".  How true!! I never even thought about preemies needing blood, but its basically something that is inevitable for them. *Shameless plug*: my mom's church Our Savior Lutheran Church in South Windsor, CT is having a blood drive December 14. If you feel like donating blood stop on by, there is always a shortage of blood, especially during the holiday season. My mom's church has two beautiful girls and one very cute boy that were adopted from China with blood disorders that require transfusions on a regular basis. So basically give blood, if you can :)

Another thing that was really poignant was a conversation I had with my midwife who just got back from Ethiopia. She was saying how her trip really put everything into perspective and how blessed we are to have things like a NICU because had the baby been born in Africa, he probably would not be here anymore.

So I hope everyone is having a good day! Eli is in his second of three Thanksgiving outfits :) He wore one yesterday to get ready for Thanksgiving, one right now, and one tomorrow for our family Thanksgiving (don't ask how many Christmas outfits he has).  Today is Daddy's birthday. He has to work :( but we will celebrate later.

Psalm 136

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.
to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.
who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.
who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.
who made the great lights
His love endures forever.
the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.
10 to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt
His love endures forever.
11 and brought Israel out from among them
His love endures forever.
12 with a mighty hand and outstretched arm;
His love endures forever.
13 to him who divided the Red Sea[a] asunder
His love endures forever.
14 and brought Israel through the midst of it,
His love endures forever.
15 but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea;
His love endures forever.
16 to him who led his people through the wilderness;
His love endures forever.
17 to him who struck down great kings,
His love endures forever.
18 and killed mighty kings
His love endures forever.
19 Sihon king of the Amorites
His love endures forever.
20 and Og king of Bashan
His love endures forever.
21 and gave their land as an inheritance,
His love endures forever.
22 an inheritance to his servant Israel.
His love endures forever.
23 He remembered us in our low estate
His love endures forever.
24 and freed us from our enemies.
His love endures forever.
25 He gives food to every creature.
His love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever.
